It’s this time of the year again. Every third thursday of November, the “Beaujolais nouveau est arrive!”. Or The Beaujolais nouveau is finally here!
Beaujolais Nouveau is a red wine made from Gamay grapes, in Burgundy. It’s fermented for a few weeks only, and actually never, ever, ever taste good. But it’s a tradition. And a good one!
Beaujolais is a cheap wine, with no pretension other than making sure you have a good time with friends and family. It’s also an amazing marketing event, driven by George Duboeuf, the creator of this trend. Every third thursday, it’s released to the public, and everyone wants to try it. The joke is always to say that it’s actually a good year, but deep inside, everybody knows that it’s not that good. But for one night only, we keep drinking it. Then, we wait for next year!
For the people at the office, you’re lucky, i’m going to bring a case of this amazing wine ;). For the others, you can find it in many wine stores and restaurants these days!
